At the heart of the Iroise region in western Brittany, it is the most southerly and smallest of the three ‘abers’. The perfect spot along the route of the legendary Chenal du Four, this port serves as the ideal stopover, especially when faced with punching tide. This year, the Finistère Sail Tour stops off in Lanildut on the north bank of the Aber. This deepwater port is currently the top European port for harvesting seaweed with some 35,000 tonnes unloaded here each year. Lanildut is also ranked as a “Breton town of rural heritage” thanks to the quality of its architecture.
